Why is it free?

One of the main questions you might have is 'what is claiming going to cost me?' Many of the claimants we talk to are not only concerned about whether they will have to pay any fees or costs, but also how much time claiming will take up and whether claiming could cost them their job.

In this section of underdog.co.uk, we hope to put your mind to rest about some of these concerns and help you to work out whether claiming is right for you.

The questions below should help you understand more about why the claims process is risk free. If there is anything you are still unsure about then just give us a call on 0800 4346 339.

How is it free to claim?

See our solicitors explaining how the no win no fee process works and how you will always take home 100% compensation

What does 'no win no fee' mean? Will I take home 100% compensation?

What compensation could I be entitled to?

The amount of compensation you could get really varies from case to case - It will depend on your individual situation. Factors include what type of injury you have, how serious your injury is and how much money you have lost, for example in lost earnings and medical costs.

Because of this, it is very difficult for us to tell you exactly how much you will receive when you claim for your injury. However, our compensation calculator should help give you a rough idea of the amount of compensation you can expect for your injury.

However, we recognise that there are many factors that go into the decision of whether you should make a claim or not, and that it's not just about money. And all of them need to be weighed up before you decide to go ahead.

Will making a claim take up much of my time?

We will try to make your claim hassle-free from start to finish, and that includes making sure it doesn't take up lots of your time.

We will find you the right solicitor for your case, so you don't have to. They will do a lot of the hard work for you, leaving you to concentrate on the important things, like recovering from your accident and piecing your life back together.

Mr Stevens, 28, Surrey, was awarded £4,980:

"The solicitor ensured that my case was handled in a straightforward way and I was very pleased that my compensation came through in six months."

Could claiming cost me my job?

We understand that you can be made to feel like the underdog when claiming against an employer, but it's actually against the law for an employer to dismiss you for making a compensation claim against them - this would be unfair dismissal.

Your employer has a duty of care to make sure all of their employees have a safe environment to work in. If someone is hurt in an accident, making a claim will draw attention to the cause, and may lead to an improvement in the working environment for everyone.

Also, you should remember that it won't be your employer themselves who pays the compensation. Companies are required to take out insurance to cover this type of situation so it's the insurance company that pays your compensation.

Does 'no win no fee' and ‘100% compensation’ really mean I won’t have to pay anything?

Put simply, it means that you can get access to legal help without having to pay anything. At National Accident Helpline we believe it's only right that you should get all of your compensation, so nothing is taken away from what you get.

How does this work? Well, if you don't win your case, your solicitor simply doesn't get paid - no win no fee! If your claim with us is successful, you won't pay any fees either. So: no hidden fees, no extra costs, and nothing to worry about. This is because the losing side's insurance company will have to pay all of your solicitor's fees, meaning you can take home 100% of the compensation awarded to you.

The only exception to this is if you live in Scotland where the system is slightly different and you may have to pay a fee when your compensation is awarded. However, just like in England and Wales, if you don't win you won't have to pay a penny. Your solicitor will be able to confirm all this for you upfront.

Is there any small print?

Not with us! You can be confident that the service we offer really is as good as it sounds, and that we will give you all the information about your claim in plain English.

There are no hidden costs involved in making a claim with us, but if for any reason there may be costs involved, your solicitor will tell you straight away.

Pete, Kent, received £8,000 after a bike accident:

"I was happy with the service and found it very straightforward. I rang National Accident Helpline and was put through to a specialist."

But how does National Accident Helpline make money?

We are supported by our nationwide panel of personal injury solicitors, who pay us to advertise their services to accident victims - this cost has no impact on you.

Because we do not charge you for our service, and your solicitor will not pass any of their costs on to you, you can claim compensation completely free of charge
