National Accident Helpline statement on reforms to Legal Aid

21st June 2011

Comment from Samantha Porteous, Chief Executive, National Accident Helpline, on the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Bill announced today:

"We are disappointed that the Government is ploughing ahead with these reforms in their current form, and hasn't listened to the case of those representing accident victims in formulating this policy. We look forward to working with the MOJ, and parliamentarians from all parties, to improve this legislation as it passes through the House, in order to ensure that it allows accident victims to retain their rights to access justice."
